While the other Main Subject Groups on D@dalos have been designed for use in practice - teachers can use these for information and help in preparing lessons -, this Main Subject Group concentrates on the theoretical background of political education. To this end, then, we are addressing wishes expressed on numerous occasions by our target groups. You will find sections dealing with the terms "Politics" and "Education", as well as a section on the Fundamentals of Political Education, which addresses the objectives, scope and challenges associated with political education. Given that we didn't want to neglect the practical side of the subject completely, we have tried to create a practical thread for creating a teaching unit in politics lessons, which you will find in the Basic Course Sequence . We are, of course, very well aware of the problems associated with this approach. Every class is different, the teaching and learning conditions vary a great deal from environment to environment and, of course, teachers as individuals represent a decisive factor. Nonetheless, we believe and hope that the four steps suggested here might prove very useful for some teachers. As with the other Main Subject Groups, you can use the written Table of Contents or the illustrated Overview to get a general summary of this online Teaching Politics subject group. We hope that you enjoy this rather theoretical subject and that it leads to success in the classroom! [Author: Ragnar Müller] |
