"Teaching Politics in South East Europe"

In the second half of 2006, we offered a distance learning course in German language. It consists of three three-day workshops in Sarajevo and two distance learning phases facilitated via e-mail. It was held by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schumann (University of Tuebingen/Germany), Ragnar Müller (EDC expert and trainer with Pharos e.V. Stuttgart) and Ingrid Halbritter (project director and trainer with D@dalos Sarajevo). The course has been held five times since the pilot course in 2003.

Main aims are to deal with the topics of democracy, political parties and European Union as well as to get acquainted with tasks, contents and methods of Education for Democratic Citizenship (EDC). In addition to that, cross-cutting key qualifications such as presentation skills, Internet research and basics of professional project planning and management are taught.

Participants acquire basic knowledge and skills in the field of EDC and learn how to teach politics in formal and non-formal education. Thereby they take part in developing a democratic political culture in South East Europe. A detailed report in German language is available here:
